(1800) Washington Funeral Medal White Metal PCGS AU53
A nice high grade survivor of this incredibly historical medal made very shortly after Washington’s death.
This piece shows light gray color with ample areas of original luster remaining. A few marks as expected as these were produced to be worn around the neck. Holed at the top, as made. A very nice example.
Washington Funeral medals were made by Jacob Perkins of Newburyport, MA. They were sold as reminders of what Washington had done for the United States and they proved to be very popular at the time. White metal ones tend to come in very poor condition, finding an example graded AU can be a difficult task.
