1652 Pine Tree Threepence Noe 36 PCGS MS63
A superb survivor and finest graded of all Pine Tree Threepences by PCGS.
A trophy coin, showing excellent light gray color with areas of original blue and yellow toning around the legends. Nicely centered for the variety, with only a small portion of the lower obverse being off the planchet. One of the finest Noe-36s in existence, the strike about as bold as we can ever remember seeing.
There are really only two comparable examples that have sold in auction recently, the Partrick and the Newman coins, graded NGC MS64 and NGC MS63 respectively. Partrick’s brought $38,775 in 2015, while Newman’s managed $49,937 in spirited bidding.
A true highlight for any serious collector of Massachusetts or colonial coinage.
