A wonderful example of this rare and highly sought after token. This piece shows wonderful medium brown color with 50% fiery red luster visible on both the obverse and reverse. Only one toning spot can be seen on the obverse, but otherwise a true gem and one of the finest (if not the finest) copper examples known today.

This piece was made by John Bolen and holds the distinction of having an attribution number of Bolen-1. Only 75 pieces in copper were said to have been struck, with far less known to exist today.

This token is important for many reasons, but mostly for it being the first time a baseball player has been depicted on a coin or medal. As baseball is our American pastime, this piece is sought after not only by coin collectors, but also baseball memorabilia collectors alike.
