The finest example we have ever seen of the Robinson struck copy. This piece shows light brown color with fully proof-like surfaces and ample areas of red, blue and purple toning. Absolutely no marks or issues of any kind can be found even with a powerful glass.
This design was originally considered a real colonial coin of the era, but most likely was a later product to fool collectors, then was reproduced by Robinson in 1863. We have seen electrotypes made of the Robinson pieces (all with the word COPY removed) most likely made to fool collectors of the early 20th century as well.
These pieces are quite scarce, but this piece may be unique in this state of preservation. An unbelievable example that we cannot imagine has an equal anywhere in the marketplace.
