1723 Rosa Americana Twopence Martin 3.6-E.8 AU55

A very sharply struck and attractive example of this popular Rosa Americana type. This piece shows darker brown coloration, as almost all examples of the issue display. The surfaces are mostly smooth with quite a bit of eye appeal. Some natural roughness in the planchet in noted in places, once again, extremely common for this type. A very nice type example.

The Rosa Americana Twopence has historically been one of the more popular early colonial types based mostly on the large size of the coin itself. Most are found with some variations of post strike damage, so it is refreshing to see a problem free example that has been off the market for almost 40 years!
